So as you read this I am away on holiday enjoying my family.  Having written and scheduled this in I’m also free to enjoy the fact that I am one year older and wiser without having to ‘work’ on a Monday night 😉 So without further ado here are a few things from the past month which I am grateful for.  As always I invite you to join along and write, post, blog or share with the world in some way all the wonderful things you have in your life which you are grateful for 😉

A Mama Weka and her chicks remind me that Spring is on its way

A Mama Weka and her chicks remind me that Spring is on its way

Many thank yous for:  a schedule button on wordpress, a schedule button on Facebook too, family, my health, being alive in a country which is free from war, catching up with friends, having the ability to home educate our kids, The Food Renegade site for educating me on Kombucha, the local Play Centre for hosting my talk on ‘Creating a Stress-Less Life’, Bach Flower Remedies (Man, where would I be without those), living in a country where I can legally home educate our kids, our local library, living in a country where I can (as a woman) go out for runs and enjoy the freedoms of life, hot pools, Resonate Emag for including me again in their subscription, EFT, Scouts and Brownies groups, yummy home grown veg, himself ;), living in New Zealand full stop!, being able to holiday with my family mid week, friends who write, flat traveller exchanges, meals over at friends, Native Bush and birds which I can enjoy right on my doorstep, tourists who bring a smile to our faces and remind me how awesome the West Coast is, being part of a community running, Hokitika SPCA, having enough food in our cupboards (a recent trip to the local food bank with a scout group reminded me of what a luxury that actually is for some people), local toy library,  the support of like minded women, soap making with the kids, Night classes and courses, Glaciers which are still there to be seen, a warm cottage thanks to the hard work of himself and the promise of Spring which the recent sight of budding daffodils, Weka chicks and new born lambs brings.

There are many more people and things I could add on here, which I’m sure will come to mind as soon as I publish, so for those people/places/things, just know that I am so grateful to have you in my life 😉

In Gratitude.

Well it is the end of yet another month and it is time to show my gratitude to the people, places and organisations which have been there for me in some way or another.

It is so nice to do this list as it brings instant feelings of warmth, just thinking about all the support I actually have around me all the time.  It is easy for me, and probably you too, to get caught up in where things are going wrong and it is great to redress the balance here.

Why don’t you join me and create your own list?  You could blog about it, tweet, text, Facebook or use any other social media you can think of to share the love around.  Remind yourself of all the wonderful things in your life that you are grateful for and I guarantee you will feel fantastic at the end of it. Try it!  Go on, write that list and share it with the world!

Bush walks with themselves

Thanks so much to the following:  My supportive husband, my lovely and very cheeky kids, my health, my extended family, my friends, the ability to get online easily, Leonie Dawson’s Amazing Biz and Life Academy, bush walks, everyone that is offering fantastic advice for free online, living on the West Coast, the toy library, the ability to travel, train trips with family, living somewhere free from war, living somewhere that I am able to safely go out by myself, fresh eggs from our own chickens, living in a country where home-educating is completely ok to do :), the local library (I think this will always be here! We love the place), great books, old books borrowed, Resonate Magazine, an energetic dog to run with, beautiful sunny days, breaks away, good food, great flat traveller connections, reading challenges, the opportunity to be a volunteer with the local SPCA, home baking, music, knitting, cross stitch, my eyesight, charity shops, cards, a warm fire on a winter’s night and a cosy wee house in a beautiful location.

Issue 2 of Resonate eMagazine, which I have an article in.

Hope this finds you full of gratitude for all the good in your life.

Creating Happiness

I have this great book which I purchased many years ago while living overseas.  When I found it I was going through a bit of a rough patch and this book really helped lift me from a dark place to one of renewed joy in the world.  It has travelled to 8 different houses, in 3 different countries, since then and has been lurking at the back of my shelves until a recent de-clutter.

The book? It is ‘365 Inspirations for a Great Life’,  by Lynda Field,  and I thought that I would share today’s entry as it fits so brilliantly with where I am in my life at the moment.  As I am de-cluttering my ‘good’ and working towards clarifying what I actually want, so that I can release anything which doesn’t fit with that, this exercise helps to check in with how I am doing. Thought you may like to use it to check in too.  There can never be enough reminders of our dreams after all!

Creating Happiness

No, you can’t buy satisfaction but you can create it. You have the power to change your own life for the better. Decide to start now!

  • Take a pen and a piece of paper and write along the top ‘Six Things I Most Want to Do in My Life’.
  • Write your list.
  • Now, look at each of your items and ask yourself this question: ‘Am I working towards doing any of these things?’
  • Recognise your dreams and then begin to make them happen.

You can never buy a happy life, you can only achieve it.

So go on, get that piece of paper and pen.  Get writing and reminding yourself of your dreams.  Check in with your actions and create the life you want.
